Getting Started
ChartGPT is now a bring-your-own-key product. Trading Neural provides the NinjaTrader add-on, licensing, downloads, and support. AI usage runs through the provider account you connect inside the app.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- NinjaTrader 8 installed on the Windows machine where you trade
- a Trading Neural account with a ChartGPT trial or lifetime license
- the ChartGPT TN key sent to your purchase or trial email address
- at least one supported AI provider key for analysis requests
Supported analysis providers are OpenAI, OpenRouter, Anthropic, and Google Gemini. Brave Search is optional for web search, and Replicate is optional for supported audio workflows.
Download and install
Section titled “Download and install”-
Sign in to the Trading Neural customer portal and open the downloads area.

Download the current ChartGPT installer.

Run the installer and complete setup.

Launch NinjaTrader 8 after installation finishes.

Open a chart and access the NinjaTrader Indicators list.

Locate the Trading Neural folder and add the ChartGPT indicator to your chart.

Click OK or Apply. ChartGPT will load on the chart and show its in-chart controls.
Sign in with your TN key
Section titled “Sign in with your TN key”-
Click the ChartGPT Login button on the chart.

Enter the email address used for your Trading Neural purchase or trial.

Enter your ChartGPT TN key. New keys start with
TN-. -
Optionally select Remember key on this device if you want ChartGPT to save the key in this Windows user profile.

Click Login.
Get an AI provider API key
Section titled “Get an AI provider API key”You only need one provider to start. Choose the provider you already use, or choose OpenRouter if you want access to many model providers through one account.

Configure ChartGPT for BYOK
Section titled “Configure ChartGPT for BYOK”-
Open ChartGPT Options from the lower-right chart controls.

Open the AI Providers tab.

Paste the API key for the provider you want to use.

Click Save for that provider.

Use the provider/model selectors in ChartGPT tabs such as Chat, Chart Data, Vision, OHLCV, Volume, VWAP, and Blend.

If a provider exposes new models after you save a key, ChartGPT can refresh the model list from that provider.
First analysis check
Section titled “First analysis check”After sign-in and provider setup:
- open Chat or another analysis tab
- select a configured provider
- select a model that supports the workflow you want
- write a short prompt
- submit the request
If ChartGPT says a provider is not configured, go back to Options > AI Providers and confirm the matching API key was saved.
Monitor your provider usage
Section titled “Monitor your provider usage”After your first successful request, open your provider usage or billing dashboard and confirm the request appears as expected.
ChartGPT does not manage provider budgets for you. Your provider account controls usage, invoices, quota, and spend limits. If a provider supports budgets or alerts, configure them before you rely on ChartGPT during longer sessions.
