Data Management
Data Management in ChartGPT
Proper data management is crucial for the optimal performance of ChartGPT. This guide will help you understand how to manage your historical data effectively.
Understanding Data Requirements
- For daily sessions, ChartGPT loads tick data (if available from your data provider) for the chart’s duration.
- Weekly and Monthly sessions use minute data that is loaded in the background.
Data Loading Considerations
- Example: If you add ChartGPT to a chart with 30 days of data, it will attempt to download 30 days of tick data.
- Using Tick data as your Data Resolution will affect performance, especially when loading many days.
- Loading extensive tick data beyond the past week provides no additional benefit to ChartGPT for daily sessions.
Ensuring Data Completeness
If you notice that the OHLCV, Volume, or VWAP tabs don’t display the full previous week in daily sessions, follow these steps to download historical data:
- Open NinjaTrader
- Navigate to “Tools” in the Control Center
- Select “Historical Data” from the dropdown
- Choose the instruments you need data for
- Select the required time range
- Click “Download” to retrieve the historical data
Performance Considerations
The data download process can affect ChartGPT’s loading time:
- Downloading new data will increase loading time compared to using existing local data.
- Loading time depends on:
- The amount of data for the instrument
- Your internet connection speed
